“Revitalizing Eptanisou Square: A Participatory Design Approach to Placemaking in Patras, Greece”

Eptanisou Square is a neighborhood space located near the town center of Patras, initially perceived as an unremarkable urban area. However, through a series of communal activities, our team, “Urban Commons”, was able to gather insights from local residents about their experiences and expectations for a public space. This information was crucial in shaping a space that was inclusive and reflective of the community. To enhance the functional aspects of the space, our team introduced various features such as wooden decks, benches, and game areas, including hopscotch and twister. Additionally, a comprehensive investigation was conducted to determine suitable plantings for the square, taking into account the climate of Patras.
